[...] After much conversation between hundreds of illustrators, came up the idea and the need for a guide, something that serves to guide the beginners, embasamento give more to those who are already on the market for some time and establish a more homogenous among all professionals in the illustration.
The Guide for Ilustradores not intended to serve as a rule or law - not exhaust the subject - is only a guide, where each one has the freedom to work as you like, but now aware of what may or may not be suitable for yourself and for the profession. [...]
These are some of the words that recepcionam visitors to the web site's Guide Illustrator.
Who is active / interested in the areas of design, web design, illustration, graphic arts in general and - why not? -- Any areas where the business is considered "independent" is to lower the tab.
This is a publication gr á tis, prepared by professionals of important area, which had, in preparing the Handbook of Illustrator, the intention of helping beginners and even the most experienced professionals better understand their job and survive in the market.
Just to give you an idea, are addressed matters such as preparation and presentation of a good portfolio, conduct in a job interview / employment, strategies for dealing with customers, among many, many others. Even one that I find most interesting and useful is to "tips" legal!
Here's an excerpt from a fictional dialogue that is in Illustrator's Guide, which deals in part on the negotiation with customers:
Customer:
-- Hi, I just wanted to get a company that I am opening. Ouví say that leaves for a few duzentinhos. How would you?
Designer:
-- It depends. For what you want the logo?
Customer:
-- Now that, to use the things of my business.
Designer:
-- Things…?
Customer:
-- Cards, notes, catalogues, website, uniform, front and so on.
Designer:
-- I understand, but for what you want for a logo on it?
Customer (already stressed):
-- Well, the whole world recognize my business, for people see that logo and immediately know it is my business, the type Nike or Coca-Cola.
Designer.:
-- Ué, but the name is not enough? You need to spend more to have a desenhinho the card and the facade?
Customer (mad):
-- Wow, but that devil of designer are you? It is logical that need a brand, a logo, an image that everyone vai and remember that vai help me sell more. What I can only put it in a lot of places and vai be enough to make a viral marketing and will save much in dollar ad and propaganda. What everyone vai look and remember of my products.
Designer:
-- Then you know very well the value of what it wants and is asking. You know that a once well done is not only a desenhinho vai and that add value to your company and thus increase sales and billing. He is acquiring a product as important as its machinery and its officials because vai to be expensive, the visual identity of your business. The value is U.S. $ 5.000,00.
